KAMPALA-The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, together with the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MSTI), have commended Ugandan innovator Carol Kyazze Kakooza for her remarkable achievement for winning the Women in Tech Award at GITEX Africa, the continent’s largest and most influential technology summit.
Axiom Zorn, a Ugandan data forensics and digital innovation enterprise led by Ms. Kakooza, was recognized for its groundbreaking work in leveraging inclusive, tech-driven solutions to empower underserved communities.
At the event held in Marrakech, Morocco, Ms. Kakooza, Executive Director of Axiom Zorn, emerged as the top contender for the Women in Tech Award, distinguishing herself among hundreds of visionary leaders from across Africa.

GITEX Africa convenes global technology leaders, innovators, and changemakers. This year, Axiom Zorn was the only Ugandan organization to be honored with an award, making the recognition not only a personal triumph for Ms. Kakooza but also a national milestone for Uganda’s innovation ecosystem.
The company’s success is anchored in transformative digital tools such as the Digital Empowerment Card (DEC) and the Digital Agriculture Reference Bureau (DARB). These platforms aim to boost financial inclusion, improve agricultural productivity, and enable data-driven policymaking. Axiom Zorn’s initiatives specifically target farmers, women, and youth at the base of the economic pyramid, using technology as a tool to foster opportunity, inclusion, and resilience.
While unveiling this Award to the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance today at Skyz Hotel-Naguru, Kakooza noted that Axiom Zorn’s initiatives specifically target farmers, youth and women.
