The Police in Wakiso district have recovered suspected stolen motorcycles and arrested four suspects.
The recovery followed an intelligence-led operation on February 18, 2025 at approximately 12:30 PM in Wampeewo Cell, Wampeewo Ward, Kasangati Town Council.
The Deputy Kampala Metropolitan policing area spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire said the operation led to the recovery of suspected stolen motorcycles and the arrest of four suspects.
The operation targeted a garage owned by one Asuman Walusimbi, a mechanic and habitual offender known for dealing in stolen motorcycles.
Intelligence reports indicated that he buys stolen motorcycles, alters their registration details, and resells them to unsuspecting buyers.
He noted that during the operation, officers recovered a motorcycle bearing registration number UFR 309G (TVS), which had been reported stolen at Kanyanya Police Station by one Eva Namutebi.
Preliminary findings suggest that the number plate on the motorcycle had been altered.
Five other motorcycles registration numbers UEO 178G a Bajaj Boxer; UEB 674D a Bajaj Boxer, UDU 453M a Bajaj Boxer; UEB 348K a Bajaj Boxer; and a numberless Bajaj Boxer, all red colour were allegedly recovered from the same garage.
They also arrested four suspects including: Asuman Walusimbi the said owner of the garage; Ismail Mulalizi a brother to Walusimbi; Yekosofat Kayiru; and Junior Sekamanda.
Owoyesigyire said the suspects have been charged with possession of suspected stolen property at Kasangati Police Station.
He stressed that investigations into the matter are still ongoing, and further details will be communicated in due course.
He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to stolen property to the nearest police station.
