Two security guards tragically lost their lives during a violent robbery at a petrol station.
The incident occurred in Katosi, Mukono district, where the victims, identified as Deo Senabulya, aged 50, and Joseph Onyaiti, aged 25, were on duty at Chard Energy Petrol Station when they were attacked by two assailants.
According to Patrick Onyango, the police spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Police, the attack took place on the morning of May 1, 2025, at approximately 4:02 AM.
The robbers allegedly assaulted the guards with a blunt object, leading to their fatalities.
They also confiscated the guards’ firearm, which contained five rounds of ammunition, and subsequently used it to rob the pump attendants, Jovita Tessa, 23, and Kevin Domanye, 22, of around Shs3 million in cash and their mobile phones.
The suspects reportedly discarded the rifle near a railway line, where it was later retrieved by police.
Onyango confirmed that the police have gathered evidence, taken statements, and transported the deceased to Mulago hospital for a post-mortem examination.
He emphasized that police, in collaboration with other security agencies, has initiated a manhunt for the perpetrators as the investigation proceeds.
