Katwe Kabatoro, Kasese – Two people, including a child, have tragically lost their lives in a fatal road crash today in Nyaruzigati Village, located in the Lake Katwe Sub-county of Kasese District. The incident occurred when a white Isuzu Forward truck (registration number UA 614AG) collided with an unidentified motorcycle carrying passengers.
According to preliminary investigations by the Katwe Kabatoro Division Police, the truck driver was reportedly speeding and failed to negotiate a corner, resulting in the devastating crash.
The deceased have been identified as:
Biira Catherine, 7 years old, and Jeyles, 32 years old
Five additional individuals were injured in the incident and have been rushed to Kagando Hospital in Bwera for medical treatment. They include:
- Willy Geoffrey (35), the truck driver and a resident of Kidodo Cell
- Kamala Richard (20), passenger, resident of Kidodo
- Mbusa Matayo (32), resident of Kirembe
- Bwambale Godwin (26), passenger, resident of Kaberere Village
- Kule Alfred (21), resident of Kirembe
Both the truck and the motorcycle involved in the crash have been towed to Kikorongo Police Station for further inspection. Authorities have launched a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police spokesperson for Kasese District, Nelson Tumushime, confirmed the incident and emphasized the ongoing efforts to determine the exact cause of the crash. He urged motorists to adhere strictly to road safety guidelines to prevent further tragedies.
