A content creator has landed himself in police custody after filming skit with panga.
In his statement, Patrick Onyango, the Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson, said police took action after public concerns surrounding a viral video that appeared to show a man wielding a panga and threatening customers at a local restaurant.
Following a thorough investigation, it was established that the incident was not a real criminal act but rather a poorly executed comedy skit.
According to Onyango, the staged scene took place at Chez Boss Mutoto in Munyonyo and involved a Congolese national, Tokosi Ngoli, along with a TikTok content creator.
He said the individuals failed to notify or seek consent from all patrons present during the filming, which led to public alarm once the footage was circulated online.
Ngoli was later arrested and formally charged with being armed in a public place.
He said his case file has since been submitted to the State Attorney for further legal action.
Onyango emphasized that the video does not depict an actual crime and urged the public to exercise caution when sharing or interpreting online content.
He reminded content creators of the importance of responsible behavior, especially when simulating sensitive or threatening scenarios in public spaces.
