The Government is advised to adhere to global data protection rules by establishing robust frameworks.
Caroline Kamaitha, General Manager RAXIO Uganda, made this call during the launch of Uganda’s Data Centre Landscape 2025 report by RAXIO Uganda.
Kamaitha says that this is crucial because many institutions in Uganda lack even basic frameworks which can compromise transparency and accountability in financial services.
She notes that institutions having proper data protection frameworks in place can ensure safeguarding sensitive information, promoting transparency and accountability, building trust in financial services, and compliance with international standards, among others.
She adds that this advice of global data protection rules highlights the importance of strengthening data protection measures to support a secure and reliable financial system.

Edwin Enabu, Sales Manager at RAXIO Uganda, states that the role of Raxio Uganda is to support digital transformation while ensuring the security of customer data.
He emphasizes that in this era, it’s essential for everyone to embrace modern technology, such as AI, and those who don’t adapt will be left behind.
However, he adds that as the company is facing some challenges, including high capital requirements, cybercrime attacks, customized infrastructure needs, and power supply issues, including power interruptions, among others.
