KAMPALA- Pride Bank officially launched, the journey has seen the bank transforming from a Tier 3 microfinance institution into a fully-fledged Tier 2 credit institution.
The official launch was presided over by Minister for finance and economic development Honorable Matia Kasaija who lauded the Bank for reaching such a great milestone, noting that the transformation aligns with the government’s vision for economic growth and deeper financial inclusion.

“This journey requires more than structural change. It requires cultural and behavioral evolution, from both the public and private sectors. Whether it’s through our traditional business models, fintech innovation, or community-focused microfinance programs, we are moving in the same direction — toward inclusive growth, equity, and stability. Let me be clear: financial institutions must not only serve markets, but also reflect the values of the people they serve. This means putting the customer at the heart of everything, from banking halls to digital platforms and ensuring access, fairness, and accountability. We must also acknowledge the role of government. Our responsibility is to provide a stable regulatory framework, invest in the necessary infrastructure, and create the conditions for sustained financial growth. Public trust, transparency, and innovation are the pillars of our mission. We are here today not just to look back, but to look forward. We will continue to support initiatives that promote financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and economic resilience. These are not just policies. they are promises.” said Hon. Matia Kasaija.
