WAKISO, UGANDA –President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has  commissioned the construction of the Bukasa–Ssentema–Kakiri road, a 12-kilometer stretch in Wakiso District, at a cost of 56 billion Ugandan shillings.

The project, aimed at enhancing business operations and improving service delivery in the area, is part of the government’s ongoing effort to bolster infrastructure and drive socio-economic transformation across the country.

While addressing residents at the commissioning ceremony in Bukasa Village, President Museveni urged the local population to leverage the improved road network to create wealth at the household level and elevate their living standards. He emphasized that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government is strategically focused on national development—anchored in peace and security, infrastructure development, wealth creation, and job generation.

“The NRM is deliberate in ensuring Uganda’s transformation through targeted projects like this road,” said President Museveni. “This new road is not just a physical asset—it is an economic enabler for the people of Wakiso and beyond.”

The Bukasa–Ssentema–Kakiri road links several key routes within the Kampala Metropolitan Area, making it a crucial infrastructure project for local and regional commerce. President Museveni encouraged residents to embrace government programs and vote for ideologically sound leaders capable of planning and monitoring development initiatives effectively.

In a show of support for the local community, the President also donated 600 million shillings to support church infrastructure—allocating 300 million shillings each to Catholic and Anglican churches in Bukasa.

As part of his ongoing assessment tour of the Parish Development Model (PDM), the President later addressed a large public rally at Jinja Kaloli in Maganjo, where he shared wealth creation and employment strategies tailored for urban dwellers. He emphasized the importance of urban inclusion in national development efforts and pledged to increase PDM funding allocations for urban centers to reflect their dense populations and unique economic needs.

President Museveni advised residents to engage in intensive commercial agriculture on small plots, acquire vocational skills for artisanship, and tap into the services sector—including transport and commodity trade.

“The goal is for every Ugandan to join the money economy,” the President stressed. “With initiatives like PDM, Emyooga, and others, we are determined to lift every household out of poverty.”

The visit is part of a broader government initiative to monitor the implementation of socio-economic empowerment programs and ensure that allocated funds are effectively utilized to achieve tangible community transformation.
