A cloud of worry hangs over Bukomye Cell in Maya, Kyengera Town Council, after a 10-year-old boy, Mukwaya Kamada, mysteriously disappeared nearly a month ago, vanishing after a simple errand to a neighborhood shop.
Kamada, a pupil at Ryan Nursery and Primary School, was last seen on June 25, 2025, when he was reportedly sent by his stepmother to buy a spool of thread from a nearby store.
According to police, he was given shs1,000 but returned having spent only half of it. When questioned about the remaining shs500, he allegedly left to go back and search for the balance, and has not been seen since.
His father, 40-year-old Abdul Semadu Mukwaya, a mechanic in the area, filed a missing person’s report with Nsangi Police shortly after the boy failed to return home.
Kamada had been staying with his father and stepmother, Hafuswa Namakula, following the separation of his biological parents.
Police say both family members and law enforcement have conducted extensive searches in and around the Maya area, but Kamada’s whereabouts remain unknown.
Authorities continue to treat the case as a serious disappearance, and investigations are actively ongoing under the Territorial Police in Nsangi.
“We are urging any member of the public with relevant information to come forward,” said ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Kampala Metropolitan Police. “Even the smallest lead could help bring Kamada home.”
