The National Resistance Movement (NRM) ruling successfully conducted mass elections for party primaries, covering key positions such as LC V chairpersons, Lord Mayor, City Mayors, Municipality Mayors, and Councilors.

The electoral process commenced on July 24, 2025 promptly at 8:00 a.m., although voter turnout was initially slow, with many voters balancing their participation alongside daily work commitments. Despite this, the atmosphere at polling centers remained calm and orderly throughout the day.

Patrick Onyango, the spokesperson for the Kenya Military Police (KMP), commended the NRM Electoral Commission for its preparedness, noting that election materials were delivered on time and that election officials and security personnel executed their duties with professionalism.

According to Onyango, security measures were robust, with both uniformed and plain-clothed officers deployed across polling sites.

Additionally, joint operations involving the UPDF and other security agencies-maintained law and order through continuous foot and motorized patrols.

While the majority of the elections proceeded peacefully, Onyango acknowledged that a few isolated incidents required intervention.

He cited cases in Nsuube ‘B’ cell, Mukono Central Division, where two individuals, including an NRM Registrar and an agent, were arrested for allegedly altering results in favor of a particular candidate.

Similarly, in Kabalagala’s Wabigalo Church Zone, attempts to manipulate mayoral results led to a scuffle during which a police officer was assaulted; the suspects were detained at the Kabalagala Police Station. Furthermore, polling at Wankulukuku was canceled following violent clashes between competing parties.

Onyango emphasized that no widespread voter intimidation was reported before, during, or after the elections, attributing the overall peaceful conduct to effective collaboration between electoral and security agencies.
