Lwemiyaga County, Sembabule District – The NRM parliamentary flag bearer for Lwemiyaga County, Brig. Gen [Rtd] Emmanuel Rwashande, has advised his political rival and outgoing MP, Theodore Sekikuubo, to peacefully retire from politics and focus on farming, particularly taking care of his goats, claiming that Sekikuubo’s political career has reached its end.
In a phone interview with this website yesterday, Rwashande, who was in the constituency campaigning, said he was offering “free advice” to Sekikuubo to step away from active politics and concentrate on his farm animals.
“He will never defeat me in the upcoming general elections,” Rwashande asserted. “He has failed to effectively serve the people of Lwemiyaga throughout his time in Parliament.”
He continued, “How can he expect to be re-elected after spending over 15 years paying lip service to the people? That’s why they encouraged me to run—because I am a strong advocate for development, with close ties to State House and the government at large.”
Rwashande emphasized that Sekikuubo had outlived his political usefulness and warned that he should retire honorably or risk being humiliated at the polls.
He further stated that he has a comprehensive plan to revamp Lwemiyaga’s development agenda and called on voters to send him to the 12th Parliament so he can deliver on his promises.
However, when contacted for comment, Sekikuubo dismissed Rwashande’s remarks, stating that while he respects him as a military officer, he does not view him as a serious political contender.
“We respect Rwashande only as a military strategist and bush war veteran—a star officer, no doubt. But in politics, unfortunately, he wouldn’t even pass a kindergarten-level political exam,” Sekikuubo remarked.
In response, Rwashande fired back, saying, “The voters will soon send him to his political burial grounds.”
