With just six days remaining, anticipation is building for the launch of We Can Be More: The Courage to Grow, The Strength to Rise, the latest book by celebrated Ugandan orthopaedic surgeon Dr. John Ekure, fondly known as “The Bone Doctor from Kumi.”

The much-anticipated event is scheduled for Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Nile Hall, Hotel Africana, Kampala, starting at 4:00 PM (doors open earlier for seating).

This is no ordinary book unveiling. Organisers describe it as a transformative platform for meaningful dialogue on personal growth, resilience in the face of adversity, purposeful living, and the power of service to others. Proceeds and attendance will directly support the Elizabeth Opola Foundation, which sponsors education for underprivileged youth and drives vital environmental conservation initiatives across Uganda.

Dr. Ekure, founder and leader of the transformative Kumi Orthopaedic Centre, draws deeply from his own remarkable journey — rising from humble rural beginnings to become one of the country’s leading specialists in orthopaedics, trauma, and spine surgery. In We Can Be More, he challenges readers to move beyond mere survival and comfort zones, arguing that passion alone is insufficient for lasting change.

“True strength is found in service, and a meaningful legacy is measured not by recognition but by contribution,” Dr. Ekure writes in the book.

He stresses the necessity of pairing passion with clarity of purpose, consistent action, disciplined self-improvement, courage to pursue bold ideas, and humility to learn from failure. With quiet persistence and the willingness to begin — even imperfectly — anyone can grow, impact lives, and truly “be more.”

This marks Dr. Ekure’s third major publication, following his acclaimed memoir Undeterred (which chronicles the challenges and triumphs of establishing Kumi Orthopaedic Centre) and Changing Our World (a passionate call to societal transformation through service).

A sought-after motivational speaker, advocate for youth innovation, enterprise, and diligence, Dr. Ekure also serves on Uganda’s National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), where he champions wetland conservation and sustainable waste management. Through Lions Clubs International, he promotes servant leadership and support for the most vulnerable in society.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has previously described him as “an entrepreneur with spectacles that see far — one who turned tragedy into triumph and rose to shape lives and systems with vision.”

Event organisers are extending a warm invitation to the public: “Come not just to witness a launch — come to invest your presence where purpose gathers, and leave knowing the story continues because you were there.”

This promises to be an inspiring evening of reflection, open conversation, networking, book signings, and renewed commitment to greater possibility.

Seats are limited and filling fast. Members of the public, professionals, youth leaders, corporate executives, students, and all who seek inspiration are strongly encouraged to book in advance to secure their place.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to be part of a movement that reminds us all: We Can Be More.
