KAMPALA, Uganda — Seeta University has reached a significant milestone in its rapid growth within higher education after receiving official accreditation from the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda to offer a Bachelor of Pharmacy programme.

The Society’s Secretary, Dr. Lutoti Stephen, confirmed that the university has satisfied the stringent academic and professional standards required to train future pharmacists in Uganda. This recognition places Seeta University among a select group of institutions entrusted with developing the country’s pharmaceutical workforce.

The accreditation marks a major step forward for the university, reinforcing its position as one of the fastest-growing higher education institutions in Uganda. It reflects deliberate investments in quality education, modern infrastructure, and international academic partnerships.

A key contributor to this achievement has been Seeta University’s collaboration with global institutions, particularly Teesside University. According to Dr. Lutoti, such partnerships have enabled the university to align its curriculum with international standards, adopt advanced teaching methodologies, and expose students to global best practices in pharmaceutical sciences.

The university has also invested heavily in state-of-the-art laboratory facilities and modern equipment that meet and exceed regulatory requirements. These resources provide students with essential hands-on training, ensuring they acquire the practical competencies required in contemporary pharmacy practice. The institution’s emphasis on high-quality learning environments aims to prepare graduates for both national and international career opportunities.

The Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda emphasized that accredited institutions must continuously comply with strict regulatory standards, noting that accreditation may be withdrawn if requirements are not maintained. This underscores both the significance of Seeta University’s achievement and its responsibility to sustain excellence.

Under current guidelines, all pharmacy students in Uganda are required to register annually through the PSU Pharmacy Student Portal to ensure proper oversight of their training. Graduates must also undertake standardized pre-internship and post-internship examinations administered by the PSU Council before qualifying for professional registration.

Seeta University’s inclusion on the accredited list signals growing confidence in its academic systems and institutional capacity. It also reflects the university’s broader ambition to become a center of excellence in health sciences education, contributing meaningfully to Uganda’s healthcare sector and the global pharmaceutical landscape.

Other universities accredited to offer the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme include Makerere University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Kampala International University, Gulu University, Busitema University, Victoria University, Fins Medical University, and Jeph International University.

Commenting on the development, Seeta University Academic Registrar Ronald Mbago said the accreditation demonstrates the institution’s substantial investment in training infrastructure, ensuring that pharmacy students are fully supported throughout their academic journey.

He also encouraged Senior Six finalists to consider enrolling at Seeta University, highlighting its focus on strategic professional programmes designed to equip graduates with the skills to become job creators and contribute to Uganda’s socio-economic development.
