C&D Pharma, a pharmaceutical innovator based in India, has hosted a Product Symposium with the support of the Ministry of Health, Joint Medical Stores (JMS), and KAMCARE to introduce three novel treatments for non-communicable diseases (NCDs).

The collaboration aims to significantly improve access to effective and affordable therapies for hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease, and cardiovascular disease conditions across Uganda.

“The Ministry of Health commends C&D Pharma, Joint Medical Stores, and KAMCARE for their dedication to improving healthcare access nationwide. This collaboration reflects our commitment to addressing non-communicable diseases, which have increasingly become challenging for our health system,’’ said Dr. Olaro Charles, director of Curative service at the ministry of health

Olaro who was the chief guest said that “As many of you are aware, non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease have a significant impact on Ugandan families and communities. The burden of these diseases, especially in rural and underserved areas, calls for innovative solutions. We need treatments that manage symptoms and prevent long-term complications that strain our healthcare resources.”

“Today, with the introduction of fourth-generation therapies, we are advancing our ability to treat these conditions more effectively across Uganda. These medications not only improve the lives of patients but also help alleviate the pill burden on patients and cost families struggling to treat prolonged in our healthcare facilities. We are taking an essential step towards health equity by ensuring that these medications reach even the most remote communities,” he added.

According to him, the Ministry of Health is committed to supporting initiatives promoting health and well-being across Uganda. Together with C&D Pharma, Joint Medical Stores, and KAMCARE, “We will continue to build a healthcare system that leaves no one behind,” he noted

“Launching our products here in Uganda is more than just a business decision—it is a partnership rooted in trust, respect, and a deep desire to make a difference. With the support of the Ministry of Health, Joint Medical Stores, and KAMCARE, we are not only launching innovative products but also embarking on a mission to serve Ugandan communities in the fight against non-communicable diseases,” said Chirag Vora, the Managing director of C&D Pharma Uganda.

“Through Cliniplan Trio, the Dairetin family, Daptide, and many more in the pipeline, we provide Uganda’s healthcare providers with powerful new tools to tackle complex diseases like hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular conditions. These treatments go beyond managing symptoms; they aim to transform lives by reducing complications and supporting long-term health”, he noted in his crossing remarks.

He added that “We firmly believe that these products, combined with the invaluable support of our partners, will create real, lasting change. Together, we are paving the way for a healthier Uganda, where access to advanced medical care is a right, not a privilege”.

A Rising Health Challenge

The rising prevalence of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) poses a significant challenge to Uganda’s healthcare system and its citizens. Many Ugandans, particularly in underserved areas, lack access to timely and new treatments, leading to increased morbidity and mortality.

The event deliberated on how to readily avail new cutting-edge medical therapies in Uganda for the first time to tackle this critical need.

By introducing advanced combination therapies that reduce the pill burden, improve patient adherence, and lower long-term treatment costs, C&D Pharma and its partners are addressing the pressing need for effective, accessible, and affordable NCD management.

Innovative Treatments Now Available in Uganda

Through the collaboration with the Ministry of Health, JMC and KAMCARE, C&D Pharma will introduce a range of fourth-generation therapies to the Ugandan market, including:

Cliniplan Trio – A fourth-generation antihypertensive combination therapy that effectively manages high blood pressure while protecting vital organs such as the heart, kidneys, brain, and eyes.

The Dairetin Family – Including Diatrin M and Diatrin Trio, these treatments represent a pioneering advancement in diabetic care, offering stable blood sugar control and reducing the risk of diabetes-related complications.

Daptide – Designed to revolutionize chronic disease management, Daptide targets diabetes and hypertension, offering precise control that mitigates complications affecting the heart, kidneys, and blood vessels.

Impact of the Partnership on Ugandan Communities

The introduction of these innovative therapies will have a far-reaching impact across Uganda’s healthcare landscape:

For Rural and Underserved Populations: By partnering with Joint Medical Stores and KAMCARE, C&D Pharma ensures that these advanced treatments reach remote and underserved communities, improving health equity and access to high-quality care.

For Patients with Limited Financial Resources: With support from the Ministry of Health, C&D Pharma is committed to making these medications affordable and accessible across all income levels, reducing financial barriers to effective NCD treatment.

For the Healthcare System: The higher efficacy and improved outcomes associated with these medications can reduce the healthcare system’s burden, helping to lower the demand for emergency care and long-term hospitalizations, which allows for more efficient resource allocation.

For Healthcare Providers: Doctors and healthcare professionals will now have access to state-of-the-art therapies for managing complex cases of hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. This partnership empowers healthcare providers with the latest advancements in medical science, enhancing their capacity to deliver quality care and build patient trust.

C&D Pharma Managing Director Comment:

Chirag Vora, Managing Director, C&D Pharma says: “C&D Pharma is deeply committed to improving the health and well-being of the Uganda people. With the support of Ministry of Health, JMS, and KAMCARE, we believe these innovative therapies will make a substantial difference in the lives of countless Ugandans.”
