The Special Forces Command (SFC) has dismissed claims linking an individual arrested at the National Unity Platform (NUP) headquarters to its ranks.

The man in question, identified as Sulaiman Watuke, was apprehended on Sunday during an incident at the NUP offices in Kavule, Kampala.

Following his arrest, images of Watuke, who purportedly identified himself as an SFC soldier, have circulated widely on social media, sparking controversy and speculation.

In an official statement, SFC spokesperson, Major Jimmy Omara, clarified that the man in the viral photos is not affiliated with the elite military unit

“Social media was awash with information that he belongs to Special Force Command (SFC) but his details are not reflected in our register, and as well in the UPDF records or system,” Maj. Jimmy Omara said.

Major Omara noted that the identity card found in the suspect’s possession, bearing the SFC name, was forged and lacked the necessary security features.

“The identification card that was found on him has the institutional name of SFC but lacks the security features that define our cards. It’s forged and lacking in many aspects. It was meant to hoodwink unsuspecting persons.” he added.

He noted that the police are now investigating the case and warned people to refrain from actions that could lead them to commit criminal offenses.

“We have reported a case of impersonation to police and investigation has commenced to that effect. We would like to warn such unscrupulous people to desist from engaging in acts that may lead them to committing criminal offences,” Maj Jimmy Omara added.
