KIGEZI REGION : Police in Rukiga District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of Namanya Venture, 30, a resident of Nyamabale Cell, Muhanga Ward, Muhanga Town Council in Rukiga District.
Preliminary findings indicate that Namanya was undertaking casual work at a roofing site when he came into contact with a live electricity wire, resulting in fatal electrocution.
Police responded to the scene and conveyed the deceased’s body to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination.
Kigezi Region Police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime cautioned members of the public to exercise extreme caution when carrying out construction work near electricity lines.
“We urge the public to exercise extreme caution when carrying out construction works near electricity lines,” Tumushime said.
He also encouraged property owners to engage qualified electricians for electrical installations and other related works to prevent accidents.
