Sweden-based musician and producer David Muderhwa, popularly known as Swiden (I Am Swiden), is building a name for himself on the international entertainment scene, combining music production, songwriting, film and multi-instrumental skills.

Born on November 15, 2000, in Sweden to Congolese roots, Swiden has developed an artistic identity influenced by different cultures and musical traditions. His work cuts across Afrobeats, Pop, Dancehall, Reggae, Amapiano, electronic music, Kompa, Rhumba and Seben.

In an interview, Swiden described his journey as one driven by passion, persistence and a desire to use creativity to connect people across borders.
He says his music is largely inspired by life, spirituality, love and personal experiences, with lyrics that seek to encourage and emotionally connect with listeners.

As a songwriter and producer, Swiden has worked on music for artists from different parts of the world, including Africa, Asia, America and Europe. His work has also earned him recognition in categories including Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year, among other accolades.

His versatility is further demonstrated by his ability to play several instruments, including guitar, piano, drums and violin. He also works as a sound engineer, giving him greater control over the production and sound of his projects.
Swiden’s artistic ambitions extend beyond music.

He has ventured into acting and filmmaking, using film and visual storytelling as additional platforms through which he expresses his ideas.
The musician is also the founder and CEO of three music-related entities in Sweden: Swidenation Record Label, Toko Music Empire and Free Soul Music,  which he says are intended to support artists, promote authentic music and contribute to a wider creative community.
His multilingual background has also helped him navigate different cultural spaces.

Swiden speaks several languages, including English, Swedish, Luganda, Swahili and Lingala.
While his career is largely based in Sweden, Swiden’s African heritage remains an important part of his artistic identity. His growing body of work reflects an attempt to merge African sounds with international musical influences.

At a time when African music continues to gain audiences around the world, Swiden hopes his journey will inspire other young creatives to pursue their talents regardless of where they come from.

For the young artist, the journey is still unfolding. With music, film and production at the centre of his ambitions, Swiden is positioning himself as a cross-border creative whose story stretches from Sweden to the wider African and international entertainment industry.
