KIRUHURA, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – Inside a four-day retreat in Kiruhura District, top officials of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat discussed ways to strengthen party cohesion, improve mobilisation and shape the ruling party’s political direction for the next five years and beyond.
The retreat, chaired by NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong, was held at Kigambira Safari Lodge in Lake Mburo National Park, where senior officials explored ways to enhance mobilisation through cadre identification and recruitment to keep the party strong and vibrant.

Held under the theme “Strengthening the NRM Revolutionary Methods of Work: Building a Cohesive, Disciplined, Accountable and High-Performing Party Secretariat for the 2026–2031 Visalia and Beyond,” the retreat provided an opportunity to review the party’s performance in the concluded general elections and develop a comprehensive plan to advance its vision and mission.
The officials also examined areas where the party could introduce reforms in response to changing regional and international geopolitical dynamics, with the aim of attracting people across different generations.
Among the resolutions was a renewed commitment to support other arms of government in implementing the NRM manifesto and improving service delivery.
Officials held in-depth sessions on service delivery, monitoring and evaluation, international relations, etiquette, communication and media relations.
The sessions were facilitated by Dr. Kenneth Alfred Kiiza and Prof. Gerald Karyeija Kagambirwe, both from the Uganda Management Institute (UMI).
While closing the retreat, Todwong called for greater cohesion and teamwork among the senior officials to ensure smooth operations within the party.
“I am very happy for the discussions and conversations we shared in the retreat and hope for more meetings going forward,” Todwong said.
