His Eminence Emmanuel Cardinal Wamala expressed his gratitude to all those who have supported him, noting that their affection and commitment reflect the strong bond he shares with them, even in times of weakness.

He encouraged them to continue fostering love among one another.

This sentiment was shared during a thanksgiving prayer and luncheon held in honor of his 98th birthday at his Priestly Center residence in Nsambya, where he was joined by his “grandchildren”.

The event commenced with a Eucharistic mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Paul Mugerwa, the director of the Priestly Center Nsambya, and was attended by Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo, the state minister for higher education and chairman of Cardinal Wamala’s grandchildren, along with several esteemed guests.

In his address, Dr. Muyingo expressed gratitude for the love shown to Cardinal Wamala and emphasized the importance of ongoing prayers for him.

He also encouraged the grandchildren to strive for a brighter future through hard work, rather than relying solely on government job opportunities.

“As grandchildren of this great family, we implore you to work hard for a brighter future as opposed to looking at the government for jobs because they are not readily available; however if you use the contacts from such a high profile congregation, you can never fail to identify a link to a job,” noted the minister.

He praised the Catholic Church and all involved for their prayers for the man of God, who is recognized as a remarkable and esteemed leader dedicated to serving his church wholeheartedly.

The attendees expressed their gratitude to God, the most merciful and source of wisdom, for His ongoing love and protection of the Cardinal, affirming their commitment to support him in prayer.

The celebration of Wamala’s life featured a performance by the Little Angels Choir from Mukono District.
