The Police in Nateete have foiled a robbery attempt at two Fortebet betting companies, resulting in the death of one suspect, Benard Kayongo Nadumba, 25, a resident of Kitawuluzi, Mutundwe, Rubaga Division, Kampala District.
According to the the Kampala Metropolitan spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, on January 6, 2025, Nadumba and his accomplices, armed with pangas, attacked the first Fortebet branch along Nateete Masaka road, making off with an unspecified amount of money.
They then proceeded to another Fortebet branch at Nateete Business Center to rob more money.
However, police were alerted and quickly dispatched a team to the scene.
“Upon spotting the police, the suspects attempted to flee, and Nadumba was shot to neutralize him. He was rushed to Mulago Hospital, where he was pronounced dead after several hours,” he added.
Onyango said police collected statements from witnesses and recovered a wallet and a bunch of keys from the scene.
The Regional Flying Squad from KMP South is currently hunting for the remaining five suspects.
