Making Account Opening and Digital Banking Easy

KAMPALA– Bank of Africa (BOA) has launched the “Appsolutely Eassy” Campaign, Introducing a seamless, fully remote account opening experience via the BOA Wallet App-putting financial services directly into the hands of Ugandans without the need to visit a branch.

The campaign specifically targets the youth, first-time banking customers and existing account holders, tapping into Uganda’s rising smartphone adoption and mobile-first lifestyle.

According to the GSMA Mobile Economy Sub-Saharan Africa 2024 report, smartphone usage in Uganda is projected to surpass 80% by 2025, driven by increased internet access and more affordable devices.

“With the BOA Wallet, we are removing traditional barriers to financial inclusion,” said Arthur Isiko, Managing Director of Bank of Africa-Uganda. “Now, anyone can open a fully functional bank account in minutes, right from their mobile phone no paperwork, no queues, no delays. This Innovation is part of our broader strategy to make banking truly accessible to everyone, especially the younger, digitally driven generation,” he added.

While instant account opening is a major highlight, the BOA Wallet also offers a complete suite of digital services that empower customers to manage their finances effortlessly:

BOA Pay: A simple and secure way to make digital payments to merchants and service providers.

Bill Payments: Convenient payment options for utilities, airtime, and other essential services, all through the app.

Interest-Earning Savings: Customers can save directly through the app and earn attractive interest rates on their deposits.

He shared the bank’s digital transformation journey, highlighting its role as a pioneer in mobile banking. M. YASSINE noted that over 90% of transactions are now digital, reflecting the success of the bank’s strategy.

“This has been a successful journey and I thank all those who have contributed. We are very excited for our new initiative, and I invite you all to experience how easy it is to open an account and save through the BOAMobileWallet,” he said.
