The Rotary Club of Kyadondo in Kampala has officially unveiled its maiden inter-Rotary club sports gala, aimed at raising funds to complete their flagship Early Childhood Center project at Naigobya Primary School.
The colorful gala, held on Sunday, 4th October 2025, was graced by over a dozen clubs, including Kampala Metropolitan, Kira, Makindye, Nansana, Omera, Kampala South, Bash, Kampala Ssesse Islands, and hosts Kyadondo. These clubs showcased spirited and competitive sporting talent on the pitch at the Legends Sports Arena, Lugogo.
The chief guest was William Blick, a renowned sports expert and administrator who sits on several high-profile national sporting bodies, including the International Olympic Committee (IOC), the National Anti-Doping Committee, the National Lottery and Gaming Authority, and serves as Chairperson of the National CHAN Organizing Committee, among others.
Blick, who was flanked by past Rotary Governor Mike Ssebalu, commended the leadership of the Rotary Club of Kyadondo, led by its president Stella Arwako, for initiating such a strategic innovation. He praised the use of sports as a tool to raise funds for projects that benefit children and other vulnerable groups in the country, adding that he fully supports such impactful initiatives under the Rotary movement.
Robert Ssebugwawo, a fitness and preventive health expert at the Parliament of Uganda and a member of the Rotary Club of Kampala Central Division, said that Stella and her team’s innovation reflects a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable populations—especially children—and should be embraced by all for the greater good.
In her brief remarks, Stella noted that proceeds from the event would go toward the completion of their flagship Early Childhood Center project at Naigobya Primary School, which aims to provide education to young children in the surrounding community.
She emphasized that the Rotary Club of Kyadondo is a diverse, open, and friendly networking environment that offers its members opportunities to participate in community initiatives such as sports, medical camps, tree planting, and the promotion of child education—all geared toward positively impacting vulnerable populations.
