Hon. Dr. John Chrysostom Muyingo inaugurated the 12th Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on behalf of the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataaha Museveni.
The ceremony underscored the need for integrity, accountability, and innovation in the management of national examinations.
In her message delivered by Dr. Muyingo, Hon. Janet Museveni highlighted the vital role UNEB plays in Uganda’s national development and in maintaining public trust in the education system.

She urged the newly appointed Board members to safeguard the credibility and reliability of the country’s assessment processes.
The Minister commended the outgoing Board for its notable achievements, including the successful implementation of Competence-Based Assessment, significant reduction in examination malpractice, timely release of examination results, and the introduction of e-assessment systems.
She noted that these milestones have strengthened confidence in Uganda’s national examinations framework.
The newly inaugurated 13-member Board is chaired by Prof. Celestino Obua, who begins his second term as Chairperson. Members have been called upon to execute their duties with integrity, professionalism, and patriotism in order to protect and advance the future of Uganda’s learners.
The inauguration marks a renewed commitment to ensuring quality, fairness, and transparency in the country’s examinations system.
