Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) presidential candidate Nathan Nandala Mafabi spent the day canvassing Buyende District in eastern Uganda, rallying support ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Addressing a crowd at Bukungu Landing Site, along the scenic shores of Lake Kyoga, Mafabi pledged to construct major roads across the district and improve service delivery if elected president.
He emphasized that infrastructure development would be a top priority for his government.
Mafabi also committed to returning to the lake to protect fishing communities, noting the vital role the lake plays in the lives of Buyende residents and others across the country.
“Just as God blessed the Bagisu in the mountains with fertile soil to grow coffee, He gave the people of Buyende the lake for their livelihood,” Mafabi said. “They must be allowed to carry out their work freely and with dignity.”
Speaking directly to the boda boda riders, Mafabi announced that his administration would provide interest-free loans to help them acquire motorcycles, aiming to end exploitation in the sector and promote self-reliance.
At a rally in Kidera Subcounty, FDC party president Eng. Patrick Oboi Amuriat, who spoke before Mafabi, unveiled an economic empowerment plan where each village in Uganda would receive shs100 million to boost local development and uplift livelihoods.
“Give me your votes so I can deliver what I’ve promised,” Mafabi urged. “Everything in our manifesto is realistic and achievable, what we need is your trust and support.”
Mafabi is expected to continue his campaign trail across the Busoga sub-region and will speak live on 89.8 Bridge FM tonight at 8 PM.
