Jinja, Uganda – St. Kizito High School Namugongo once again demonstrated its commitment to innovation, research, and practical learning during the 4th National Agricultural Education Show (NAES) 2025, emerging as one of the standout exhibitors at the week-long national event.

Held from July 6th to 12th at the Jinja National Agricultural Showgrounds, the exhibition was organized by the Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) in collaboration with the Uganda National Farmers Federation (UNFFE) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF).

Aligned with the Ministry’s Competency-Based Lower Secondary Curriculum, the event focused on Project-Based Learning (PBL) and the development of 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, digital literacy, and problem-solving. Over 200,000 participants—including more than 100 schools and a wide range of visitors from academia, government, and the private sector—took part in the show.

St. Kizito High School Namugongo proudly showcased a series of innovative projects aimed at addressing critical challenges in environmental health, food security, and sustainable agriculture. Their exhibition reflected a strong focus on applying classroom knowledge to real-world issues, embodying the school’s dedication to sustainable development and community engagement.

Led by Florence Nambejja, the school’s delegation impressed attendees with their creativity, technical knowledge, and professionalism. “The exhibition offered a rich learning experience for all participants. Our students exhibited exceptional innovation and practical skills,” said Nambejja. “Their projects demonstrated the importance of commercializing research and encouraged institutions to strengthen their technology transfer strategies.”

St. Kizito’s presentation featured several practical, income-generating innovations, sparking conversations about how schools can better harness internal capacity in agriculture and engineering to move prototypes from labs to markets.

Nambejja praised the commitment and teamwork of the school’s staff and students in preparing for the event. “The team worked tirelessly to prepare materials, set up an engaging booth, and ensure strong representation. Our students played a vital role in managing logistics and sharing their work with thousands of visitors.”

The school’s achievements at NAES 2025 build on a growing legacy of innovation. Just last month, during the National Science Week, Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Monica Musenero commended St. Kizito High School for its active role in promoting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education through innovative student-led projects.

In 2024, the school was also recognized on the global stage as a finalist for the prestigious Zayed Sustainability Prize. The awards ceremony, presided over by Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni and the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, marked a major milestone for the school.
