The cultural head of the Alur Kingdom, His Royal Highness Ubimu Philip Olarker Rauni III, narrowly escaped injury following a dramatic road crash involving his royal convoy in Pakwach District.

The incident occurred on September, 25, 2025, at Inin Alwi Trading Centre as the monarch was en route to Atyak Winam Royal Palace for a traditional blessing ceremony of two government-donated vehicles.

According to an official statement from the Alur Kingdom’s Media Directorate, the accident happened when a Fuso lorry trailing the convoy failed to brake in time at a road hump.

The truck violently rammed into the King’s vehicle before hitting the lead car in the motorcade.

The rogue driver reportedly attempted to flee the scene. However, he was swiftly pursued and apprehended by the Kingdom’s Director of Operations, Jimmy Cwinya’ai, who was traveling in the third vehicle of the convoy.

Kingdom spokesperson David Rupinyi confirmed that the monarch and his entourage were unharmed.

“His Majesty Ubimu Rauni III was safely escorted to the palace and has since resumed his royal duties,” he said.

The unidentified driver is currently in custody at Pakwach Central Police Station, and the lorry was impounded as investigations continue.

Investigations indicate that the driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
