Makerere, Uganda: Woory Lim Daniel, the branch manager of Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) in Uganda, has urged youth to prioritize peace especially ahead of the 2026 general elections.
He delivered this message during the 11th anniversary of the September 18th HWPL World Peace Summit, held at St. Francis Chapel, Makerere University organized by international peace youth group- IPYG
Under the theme “Uniting for Peace and Working Together for Humanity’s Gain,” the summit aimed to strengthen unity and promote peaceful coexistence.
Mr. Woory emphasized that youth—who constitute about 75% of Uganda’s population—should be at the forefront of peacebuilding efforts.
He explained that the HWPL World Peace Summit focuses on promoting peace education, interfaith harmony, and public-private partnerships to embed sustainable peace across diverse national contexts.
Adolph Mupenzi, Director of the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), announced that IPYG signed Memorandum with Hope for Youth Uganda and Uganda Muslim Youth Transformation Association. Emphasizing that both organizations share a common vision of promoting global peace.
The MOU aims to facilitate joint initiatives, including peace education, training, and volunteer activities, to achieve their shared goals.
“In this project, we look forward to engaging the youth in Uganda and encouraging them to work together to achieve peace and maintain a clean environment,” said Adolph Mupenzi.
The summit brings together global leaders to discuss peace initiatives and develop strategies for conflict resolution.
