Nebbi, Uganda – The Nebbi District Campaign Task Force of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) has finalized preparations for President Yoweri Museveni’s highly anticipated campaign rally scheduled for tomorrow morning.

During a planning meeting held today, local leaders expressed confidence that the district is ready to deliver a successful event.

Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro, the State Minister for Mineral Development and NRM flag bearer for Nebbi Woman MP, said mobilization efforts have been completed at all levels.

Minister Phiona Nyamutoro

“We’ve just concluded a meeting with our sub-county chairpersons and local leaders to coordinate the final steps, especially ensuring that everyone arrives on time since the rally will start in the morning,” Nyamutoro told reporters after the meeting.

She described the event as more than a political rally, calling it a celebration of President Museveni’s long-standing relationship with the people of Nebbi.

“We want to show the country that Nebbi stands firmly behind President Museveni. We expect a strong turnout, full of energy and support. For us, this is not just a rally — it’s a tribute to the President’s legacy,” she said.

A Visit of Appreciation

Nyamutoro emphasized that the President’s visit is a gesture of gratitude to Nebbi for its continued loyalty to the NRM over the years.

“He’s not coming to ask for support — he’s coming to say thank you. Nebbi has always stood with him, and tomorrow we will show him that we remain committed,” she noted.

Highlighting the district’s progress under the NRM government, Nyamutoro pointed to several key achievements:

  • The appointment of Nebbi’s first minister in over 20 years.
  • The commissioning of the Nebbi substation, which connected West Nile to the national electricity grid.
  • The planned upgrade of the 16-kilometre Nebbi–Goli Road.
  • A proposed industrial park at Omvoro Village in Nyaravur Sub-county, set to begin next financial year.

“With these developments, Nebbi is no longer on the sidelines, we are becoming a hub of growth in West Nile,” she said.

Calls for Further Investment

The minister also called for greater support in key sectors such as health and education.

“We want Nebbi General Hospital upgraded to a regional referral facility, and we need more funding for our public schools,” she urged.

Nyamutoro also praised the ongoing review of the Parish Development Model, which she said would become even more effective in boosting household incomes and community projects.

“As we strengthen financial empowerment, our people will be able to establish agro-processing factories and create local jobs. One entrepreneur is already building a starch factory, and we’re working with others to bring more investment to the district,” she said.

She added that Nebbi is no longer “just a stop on the highway,” but is set to become a powerful center of opportunity and development in the region.

As Minister for Mineral Development, she also revealed that new mineral deposits have been discovered in Nebbi, which the government plans to explore for the benefit of the local population.

MP Otimgiu: “We Are Setting a New Mobilization Record”

Padyere County MP Isaac Otimgiu echoed Nyamutoro’s optimism, saying Nebbi is ready to set a new standard in political mobilization.

“We’ve seen how well other areas like Lango have mobilized, but tomorrow Nebbi will go even further,” he said.

He noted that the mobilization has been driven by all available community structures youth groups, women’s leagues, the Parish Development Model, and grassroots NRM leaders.

“People are eager to attend, even without facilitation. That shows how deeply they believe in this cause,” he said.

Otimgiu also spoke about the district’s progress in urban infrastructure.

“In the past, neighboring districts like Pakwach and Zombo saw more development, but now Nebbi is catching up fast. This year alone, many roads in the municipality have been tarmacked,” he said.

He mentioned other road upgrades underway, including the Nyee–Nebbi and Nebbi–Tuarua roads, which will further transform the district’s landscape.

“We are confident that these projects will lift Nebbi to a new level and make it a model district in West Nile,” he concluded.

President Museveni is expected to address the people of Nebbi tomorrow morning as before heading to Zombo district in afternoon as part of his ongoing nationwide campaign seeking for re-election as the President of Republic of Uganda.
