Uganda National Examinations Board-Uneb has reported that day one of the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations concluded successfully, with no major incidents reported across all examination centers. A key highlight was the full attendance of teachers serving as invigilators and scouts, despite ongoing industrial strikes affecting the education sector.

Contrary to earlier concerns that teachers might boycott their supervisory duties due to the strike, the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) Executive Director, Mr. Dan Odongo, expressed deep gratitude towards the educators. “We appealed earnestly to the teachers to separate their professional responsibilities from the industrial action and to ensure that the learners they have nurtured over the years are effectively and fairly assessed,” he said.

Uneb’s senior public relations, Jennifer Kalule  Musamba said that teachers responded with commendable professionalism by reporting for duty in full force, ensuring the smooth running of exams at all centers. UNEB extends its sincere appreciation to the teachers for this spirit of dedication and calls on the same commitment to be maintained for the upcoming Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) and Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) assessments.

Minister Muyingo Commends UNEB’s Preparedness

The State Minister for Higher Education, Hon. J.C. Muyingo, began the day with a series of inspection visits to UNEB offices and selected examination centers including Kyambogo College, Kitante Hill School, and Kololo Secondary School. Accompanied by senior Ministry of Education and Sports officials, the Minister was assured of UNEB’s readiness and operational efficiency in conducting the exams.

Mr. Dan Odongo briefed the Minister on the extensive stakeholder engagements UNEB undertook in the weeks leading up to the exams as part of their thorough preparatory procedures. Hon. Muyingo praised UNEB for consistently delivering its mandate efficiently and on time.

At all visited centers, examination candidates were engaged in their tests under the watchful eyes of diligent invigilators and scouts, underscoring the robust security and assessment measures embraced in this dynamic examination environment.
