Kampala, Uganda — The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) has honored organizations and individuals who demonstrated outstanding innovation and excellence at the 9th PRAU Excellence Awards, held on December 4th at Protea Hotel in Kampala.
The ceremony, held under the theme “Recognizing Innovation and Impact in Public Relations,” brought together communication professionals, corporate leaders, government representatives, media practitioners, and experts from related fields, including marketing and advertising.
PRAU President Irene Nakasiita emphasized that the PRAU Excellence Awards were created to celebrate exceptional work within Uganda’s public relations sector. She noted that the awards provide a platform for individuals and organizations to showcase strategic and well-executed communication initiatives that demonstrate both creativity and impact.

Nakasiita remarked that this year’s awards celebrated not only winners but also innovators who have pushed the boundaries of what is possible in the profession, proving that strategic communication remains a powerful force for trust, progress, and transformation. She congratulated all winners, finalists, and participants for elevating the standards of professional excellence in Uganda’s PR industry.
This year’s edition recognized thirteen winners across thirteen categories, including the Student Award won by Danniella Makiika from Uganda Martyrs University, Young Communicator of the Year awarded to Gaaba Lakel Maria, and Best Media Relations and Media Management Campaign presented to UEDCL. Other honorees included MultiChoice Uganda for Best Event/Experiential Campaign, Uganda Baati Limited and MAAD McCANN for Best Internal Communication Campaign, Equity Bank Uganda Limited with Capital One Group for Best Crisis Communication, and NCBA Bank for Best CSR and ESG Campaign. UEDCL also received the award for Best Public Affairs Campaign, while DFCU Bank with Capital One Group won Best Corporate Communication Campaign. Sauti Plus and Reach a Hand Uganda were recognized for Best Not-for-Profit Campaign, Serene Beauty secured both Best Social/Digital Communication Campaign and the prestigious Best Overall PR Campaign, and Node Group was named Best PR Agency.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Ms. Sarah Kagingo in recognition of her distinguished service and significant contributions to advancing the practice of public relations in Uganda.
South African High Commissioner to Uganda, Solly Mollo, who served as Chief Guest, congratulated the winners and commended PRAU for its commitment to celebrating excellence. He encouraged the association to explore collaboration opportunities with the South African High Commission to enhance the visibility of both countries through public relations initiatives.
