ENTEBBE, Uganda – MTN Uganda successfully concluded the 2025 MTN Monthly Tee season with the Grand Tee of Tees tournament at Entebbe Club, East Africa’s oldest golf facility. The season finale brought together golfers for a competitive and celebratory day of play, confirming the tournament winners and recognising the most consistent performers across the year.
Barbara Kiwanuka emerged as the overall winner of the Grand Tee of Tees after posting an impressive net score of 64. In the guest category, Ntombi Kejem claimed victory with a score of 55, while Tonny Kisadha won the seniors’ category for players aged 55 and above with a score of 71.
In the ladies’ competitions, Rita Apell won Group A with a score of 73, while Rukia Nalwoga finished as runner-up on 74. Charity Tushabomwe claimed the Group B title with a score of 70, followed by Peace Hellen as runner-up on 72. In the men’s categories, Allan Muhereza won Group A with a score of 68, ahead of Ronnie Kasirye, who finished runner-up with 73. Group B was won by Philemon Akaturuhira on 67, with Collins Nuwagira finishing second on 68. Mathias Kalule took the Group C title with a score of 66, while Lloyd Busuulwa was runner-up on 67.
Special prizes on the day saw Peace Hellen win the Longest Drive in the ladies’ category, while Peter Magona claimed the men’s Longest Drive. Martha Babirye won Nearest to the Pin in the ladies’ category, with Ivan Ssetimba taking the men’s prize.
The tournament also confirmed the MTN Monthly Tee Order of Merit champions for 2025. Esther Aganyira was crowned the ladies’ overall winner with a total score of 537, followed by Peace Hellen as runner-up on 543 and Edith Wamalwa in third place with 561. In the men’s category, Saidi Kirabira emerged as the overall winner with a score of 543, while Arthur Arinaitwe finished runner-up on 549. Mathias Kalule secured third place with a score of 557.
Beyond the competition, the Grand Tee of Tees concluded a significant year for MTN Uganda’s partnership with Entebbe Club. Earlier in the week, MTN Uganda officially opened the refurbished Entebbe Clubhouse, fulfilling commitments made when the partnership was signed in 2023. Together with the MTN Halfway House unveiled in December 2024, these developments have strengthened MTN’s role in enhancing the golfing experience and preserving the club’s heritage.
MTN Uganda’s support for golf in 2025 also extended beyond Entebbe Club. During the year, the company announced sponsorship support for professional golfer Ronald Rugumayo, contributing to his participation on international tours and supporting a landmark period for Ugandan golf on the global stage. This backing aligns with MTN Uganda’s broader commitment to nurturing talent, opening pathways, and promoting excellence in sport.
As the curtain falls on the 2025 MTN Monthly Tee calendar, MTN Uganda has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its partnership with Entebbe Club and continuing to support the growth of golf in Uganda through sustained and meaningful investment.
