Kampala, Uganda: MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited, in partnership with the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), has announced significant enhancements to tax and government payment services available on the MTN MoMo platform, reaffirming its commitment to driving digital inclusion and simplifying access to essential public services for Ugandans.
Launched at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, the enhanced services are accessible via the official MTN MoMo consumer shortcode under the dedicated URA menu 16518#, and are now live nationwide. The enhancements expand and improve how taxpayers interact with URA, enabling faster, more convenient, and secure payment of taxes and government-related obligations directly from mobile phones.
The enhanced URA menu is designed to make tax compliance simpler and more accessible by bringing key URA payment services closer to taxpayers, eliminating the need for physical visits to tax offices or banks. This marks a significant step in supporting URA’s digital transformation agenda while leveraging MTN MoMo’s nationwide reach and trusted payments infrastructure.
Speaking at the launch, Richard Yego, Managing Director of MTN MoMo, said the enhancements reflect MTN MoMo’s long-standing role as a reliable digital payments partner for government services.
