Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU), part of the Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) group, has welcomed ten emerging Ugandan leaders into its Ascend Leaders in Training Programme—an 18-month initiative aimed at developing the next generation of business leaders across the continent.
Running from March 2026 to August 2027, the programme brings together more than 60 young professionals from Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. It offers a structured pathway into leadership roles within one of Africa’s leading consumer goods companies.
The inclusion of Ugandan participants highlights both the strength of local talent and CCBU’s commitment to professional development. The programme is designed to provide hands-on experience, continuous learning, and career growth within a supportive and performance-driven environment.
Participants, drawn from diverse academic backgrounds including business, engineering, supply chain, marketing, and finance, will gain practical experience across key business functions. These include Supply Chain, Commercial, Finance, Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability (PACS), as well as People and Culture. While based in their home countries, they will also collaborate as part of a wider pan-African learning network.
One of the Ugandan participants, Joab Manige, described the opportunity as a major milestone in his career journey.
“This opportunity marks an important step in my personal and professional growth. By committing to continuous learning, I am strengthening my career path while developing the skills, discipline, and purpose needed to deliver excellence and add meaningful value,” he said.
The Ascend programme features rotational assignments, mentorship from experienced leaders, and exposure to real-world business challenges. Participants will work on projects aimed at driving growth, building professional credibility, and preparing them for leadership roles.
Successful graduates of the programme may be considered for permanent positions with expanded responsibilities within the CCBA group.
CCBU Managing Director Emmy Hashakimana said the initiative is designed to fast-track leadership development and empower young professionals.
“CCBA’s Ascend programme is designed to give emerging leaders the opportunity to learn fast, lead early, and make a meaningful impact,” he said.
He added that the programme goes beyond employment, offering a platform for young talent to grow and shape the future of the company.
“This cohort reflects the talent, diversity, and ambition that will define the next chapter of our organisation,” Hashakimana noted.
