Police at Kira Road have launched investigations into a tragic incident in Najeera, Kira Municipality, Wakiso District, where a seven-year-old boy lost his life after reportedly being struck by a gate on Wednesday evening.
According to police, the incident happened at around 6:00pm on May 14, 2026, at a residential home where a gatekeeper identified as Eegu James was on duty.
Authorities say the guard was closing the gate when it allegedly hit two children who were playing nearby.
The victims, both children of Peter Wampalu, were aged four and seven years.
The older child, identified as Amir Abrahim Adam, sustained critical injuries and was rushed alongside the younger child to Mulago Hospital for treatment. Amir was pronounced dead on arrival, while the second child remains hospitalized with severe injuries.
Police have since arrested the gatekeeper, who is currently being held as investigations into the incident continue.
A case of rash and negligent act causing death has been registered at Kira Road Police Station.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Kawala Racheal confirmed the incident and said inquiries are ongoing.
