Uganda has yet again proved its might on the continental pool scene after Caesar Chandiga and Rasheeda Mutesi delivered a historic double victory at the 2026 African Heyball Championship in Zimbabwe.
The Ugandan duo captured gold in both the men’s and women’s categories, underlining the country’s growing dominance in African cue sports and reinforcing Uganda’s reputation as a rising powerhouse in international pool competition.
In the men’s final, reigning Ugandan champion and African Joy Heyball Ambassador Chandiga produced a commanding performance to defeat South Africa’s Ethan Chettie 7–2 and claim the continental crown.
Chandiga’s composed display earned him the championship title and the top prize of $10,000, while Chettie secured $6,000 as runner-up.
England’s Craig Brown and Jack Whelan shared third place, taking home $4,000 each.
Other standout performers in the men’s competition included Senzo Gumede, Artefan Dad, Jose Delgado, and Kyle Akaloo, who all finished among the top five.
Mutesi fights to clinch women’s crown
In the women’s final, Rasheeda Mutesi showcased resilience and determination as she came from 3–1 down to defeat Belgium’s Wendy Jans 6–4 in a thrilling encounter.
Mutesi’s remarkable comeback secured her the gold medal and a $10,000 prize purse, while Jans settled for silver and $6,000. South Africa’s Elzette Cohen and Portugal’s Sara Poch shared third place, each earning $4,000.
