KAMPALA, Uganda — MTN Mobile Money has dismissed reports circulating in sections of the media regarding the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, saying the process is still ongoing and no final decision has been reached.

In a statement issued on Monday, the company said it remains committed to following all governance and regulatory procedures required before confirming any executive appointment.

“As a regulated entity, MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited follows all required governance and due diligence processes prior to confirming any executive appointment,” the statement said.

The company clarified that it continues to operate under the acting leadership of Sarah Bateta Okwi until the appointment process is fully concluded.

MTN Mobile Money Uganda added that any substantive appointment will be officially communicated through the appropriate channels after all governance and regulatory approvals have been completed.
