The Uganda Police Force has confirmed the repatriation of the body of Timothy Magambo, son of CID Director Tom Magambo, following his tragic death by drowning in the United States.
Family spokesperson Barugahara Balaam Ateenyi said the body arrived in Uganda at around 2:00 a.m. on Tuesday, marking the beginning of the final funeral rites ahead of his burial in Masindi District.
Timothy’s untimely death has cast the Magambo family into mourning and attracted condolences from across the country, particularly within the police leadership and government circles where his father serves in a senior role.
A requiem Mass is scheduled for today at 9:00 a.m. at Mbuya Catholic Parish in Kampala, where relatives, friends, senior security officials, and mourners are expected to gather in prayer and tribute.
Following the service, the body will be transported to Kisarabwire Village in Masindi Municipality, the ancestral home of the Magambo family. Mourners are expected to accompany the cortege on its journey to western Uganda.
On Wednesday, a vigil will be held at the family residence of CID Director Tom Magambo, giving relatives, neighbours, and friends an opportunity to pay their respects and support the grieving family.
Burial is scheduled for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Kisarabwire Village, located about two kilometres from Masindi Municipality, according to the official funeral programme released by the family.
Although details surrounding the drowning incident in the United States remain limited, the tragedy has sparked an outpouring of sympathy from across Uganda, with many describing the loss as heartbreaking and untimely.
The Magambo family has thanked Ugandans for the prayers, messages of comfort, and solidarity shown during this difficult period as they prepare to lay Timothy to rest.
