RUBANDA – Two people were seriously injured following a road crash that occurred on Monday morning at Karengeri in Muko Sub-county along the Kabale–Kisoro Road in Rubanda District.
The crash involved a Nissan Pickup Single Cabin, registration number UBK 746P, and a dark grey HOWO truck, registration numbers KDK 325W/ZD 9216.
According to preliminary information from the Kigezi Regional Police, the two vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when the Nissan pickup reportedly lost control and collided head-on with the oncoming truck.
Traffic Police officers from Rubanda District responded promptly to the scene and rescued the victims. The two unidentified people who sustained serious injuries were rushed to Kisoro Hospital for treatment.
The extent of damage to the vehicles was not immediately established, and authorities have commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.
The incident adds to the growing number of road traffic accidents reported on the Kabale–Kisoro highway, a key transport corridor connecting southwestern Uganda to neighbouring districts.
