The National Tourism Events Organisers Forum (NTEOF) is set to hold a high-level meeting with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) after the ministry’s management resolved to support the forum’s efforts to secure funding for Uganda’s tourism events industry.
The meeting is scheduled for July 28 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ministry of Tourism offices on the 2nd Floor of Rwenzori Towers. The ministry is expected to invite key stakeholders, including Permanent Secretaries from the relevant ministries that could provide financial support.
NTEOF has urged all its members to attend, describing the engagement as a significant opportunity to advance the interests of the country’s tourism events sector.
During the meeting, the forum will table three proposals. It will seek the inclusion of the NTEOF SACCO in the proposed UGX 7 billion grant for event organisers. If that is not feasible, the forum will request the Ministry of Tourism to allocate UGX 10 billion from its budget to support tourism events through the SACCO.
As a third option, NTEOF will seek a meeting with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to present its case and lobby for a sustainable, long-term funding solution for Uganda’s tourism events industry.
