Spiro has been unveiled as the official Green Mobility Partner of the 2026 Rwenzori Marathon, reinforcing its commitment to promoting clean transport and environmental sustainability. To mark the partnership, more than 200 Spiro riders participated in a Green Boda Boda Ride through the streets of Kampala, highlighting the growing role of electric mobility in reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality.
As part of the partnership, Spiro will deploy its electric motorcycles during the marathon to support race operations by transporting key officials, journalists, and medical personnel. The initiative is expected to showcase how clean mobility solutions can contribute to a healthier environment while ensuring efficient movement during one of Uganda’s premier sporting events.
Speaking at the launch, Rwenzori Marathon Co-founder Amos Wekesa said the partnership reflects the marathon’s commitment to both personal and environmental well-being.
“The Rwenzori Marathon is one of the world’s unique sporting events, where participants run across the Equator. This partnership with Spiro goes beyond running—it connects personal health with environmental health. We are proud to have Spiro on board as our Green Mobility Partner, promoting clean and sustainable transport during the marathon,” Wekesa said.
Spiro Uganda Deputy Country Head Bruce Mucunguzi said the company is using the marathon as a platform to demonstrate the benefits of electric mobility and encourage communities to embrace cleaner transport solutions.
“As an electric mobility solutions provider, we believe that a healthy population starts with a healthy environment. There is an urgent need to embrace clean transport, and through this partnership, Spiro is taking the message of clean mobility to the heart of Kasese while demonstrating the importance of protecting the region’s natural beauty from carbon emissions,” Mucunguzi said.
He added that promoting active lifestyles must go hand in hand with protecting the environment by ensuring access to clean air, safe public spaces, and communities free from unnecessary pollution.
