Two people have been killed and nine others injured in a road crash involving four vehicles along the Kampala–Hoima Road in Wakiso District.
The crash occurred at about 1:33pm on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, at Nkoowe.
The vehicles involved were a Sino Truck registration UBK 495F, a commuter taxi, UAT 272J, a Subaru Forester, UBB 353D, and a Toyota Wish, UBE 918T.
Traffic Directorate spokesperson Michael Kananura said preliminary investigations indicate that the Sino Truck, which was carrying stones from Kakiri towards Kampala, lost control at Nkoowe before ramming into the three other vehicles.
One of the vehicles was a commuter taxi that had stopped to load passengers.
The driver and conductor of the taxi died at the scene, while nine passengers sustained injuries. The injured passengers comprised five adults and four juveniles.
Police said investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing, as efforts continue to establish the exact cause of the truck losing control.
