Africa’s leading electric mobility company, Spiro, has entered into a strategic partnership with Yadea, the world’s largest manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, to expand access to affordable and sustainable electric transport across the continent.
The partnership brings together Yadea’s global manufacturing and research capabilities with Spiro’s battery-swapping ecosystem and operational network spanning seven African countries. The collaboration is expected to support millions of commercial riders, delivery services, logistics operators and daily commuters by increasing the availability of electric motorcycles tailored to African markets.
Under the agreement, Yadea will supply electric two-wheelers and other EV products, while Spiro will integrate the vehicles into its battery-swapping and energy infrastructure. The two companies will also jointly develop customized motorcycle platforms designed to withstand African road conditions and meet the demands of commercial transport.
Spiro Founder and Equitane Chairman, Gagan Gupta, said the partnership marks a significant milestone in the company’s mission to build the energy and mobility infrastructure needed for Africa’s green transition.
“Our strategic partnership with Yadea is a major endorsement of our execution to date and opens fantastic opportunities to jointly pioneer the next era of electric mobility in emerging markets,” Gupta said.
Spiro Chief Executive Officer Anant Badjatya noted that demand for electric mobility across Africa is growing rapidly, adding that the collaboration will enable the company to scale faster while making clean transport more affordable.
“By bringing together Yadea’s manufacturing strength with Spiro’s electric mobility ecosystem and operating experience across Africa, we are helping thousands more riders switch to affordable electric vehicles faster and multiplying our climate impact across the continent,” he said.
Yadea Technology Group Senior Vice President Wang Jiazhong described Africa as one of the world’s most promising markets for zero-emission transport, saying the partnership combines global innovation with local infrastructure to deliver sustainable mobility solutions for millions of riders.
Founded in China, Yadea has sold more than 100 million electric two-wheelers in over 100 countries and operates 10 production facilities worldwide. The company also holds more than 2,000 patents in electric vehicle technology.
The partnership follows Spiro’s recent $270 million funding round, which included investment from China’s NewTrails Capital. The company is expanding its integrated electric mobility ecosystem by combining electric motorcycles with a growing battery-swapping network that allows riders to replace depleted batteries with fully charged ones within minutes.
