Tirupati Group founder Harshad Barot is celebrating his 65th birthday today, September 17, surrounded by family, friends, business associates and admirers who are reflecting on his journey from humble beginnings to becoming a prominent entrepreneur in Uganda.
Barot’s Ugandan story began in 1993 when he arrived from India with modest means and just USD 150 in capital. He started his business journey by going door-to-door selling household items.
What began as a modest venture has since grown into Tirupati Group, a business associated with property development, construction, commercial real estate and infrastructure.
Behind the company’s growth is a story of persistence, relationships and a belief in starting small and building steadily.
Barot’s early experiences in business taught him the importance of finding customers, earning trust and growing one transaction at a time. Those lessons later shaped his approach to developing commercial spaces where other entrepreneurs could establish and grow their businesses.
Today, Tirupati developments provide homes, workplaces and commercial spaces while contributing to employment and economic activity in Uganda.
A significant part of Barot’s legacy is also taking shape within his family. His son, Miraj Barot, his wife, Kruti Barot, and daughter, Juhi Barot, play key roles in the day-to-day operations of the company, helping to carry forward the entrepreneurial values and lessons he has passed on.
Barot’s contribution to Uganda has also received national recognition. In January 2026, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni conferred on him the Distinguished Order of the Crested Crane (Grand Officer).
As he turns 65, Barot celebrates not only another milestone in his life but also a growing family legacy, longstanding friendships and a business journey that began with very little but grew through determination, resilience and enterprise.
