Luqman Petroleum has expanded its retail network in Kampala with the opening of its eighth filling station, as the regional oil marketing company seeks to strengthen its distribution chain and increase access to petroleum products.
The new station, located in Kabowa-Ndeba in Lubaga Division, was officially opened on 23 September 2026.
The company said the expansion would also create employment opportunities and allow it to deepen its corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities in communities where it operates.
Erokot Phillip, from Luqman Petroleum’s operations department, said the company had already recruited several young people from the area to work at the new station.
He thanked local businesses and residents for supporting the company’s expansion and said Luqman Petroleum would continue working with stakeholders to strengthen its presence in the community.
“We want to ensure that customers have access to quality petroleum products while building stronger relationships with the communities in which we operate,” Mr Phillip said.
As part of the launch activities, Luqman Petroleum staff, including Abdi Aziz Hussein and Ahmed Abdi, distributed branded reflector jackets and caps to boda boda riders who purchased fuel at the new station.
Investment and jobs
The expansion comes as businesses and policymakers continue to monitor fuel prices and the potential impact of geopolitical tensions on global energy markets.
Eliab Naturinda Mporera, the MP for Ndorwa County West in Kabale District, called for government measures to limit sharp increases in petroleum prices.
He said Parliament should work with the government and energy-sector stakeholders to help maintain relatively stable and affordable prices for petroleum products, which are important to businesses and consumers across the country.
Mr Mporera also welcomed Luqman Petroleum’s investment in the area, saying the new facility would add to economic activity in a neighbourhood with a large number of businesses.
The expansion was also welcomed by local security and community leaders.
Katwe Division Police Commander SP Innocent Mubangizi described the company’s entry into the area as timely and pledged to work with local authorities to support security around the facility.
Steven Butoto, the LC1 chairman of Kironde Zone, said the investment could provide employment opportunities for young people in the area.
Growing regional network
Luqman Petroleum is an oil marketing company with operations in East Africa, including Uganda and Kenya.
The company operates a network of retail filling stations and markets petroleum products including fuels, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), automotive lubricants, engine oils and greases.
The opening of the Ndeba station brings its Kampala network to eight outlets, marking another step in the company’s expansion of its retail and distribution operations.
Luqman Petroleum says its services go beyond fuel retailing to include automotive lubricants and related customer services.
