Police probe suspected arson in Wakiso

Police have opened an investigation into a deadly house fire in Nansana after three people were feared dead in a blaze that authorities suspect may have been deliberately started.
The fire broke out in the early hours of Monday, leaving six other occupants alive, according to preliminary information presented by police.
Those reported dead have been identified by people familiar with the family as Isabide Buladi, Annet Namulondo and Violet Nanyombe. However, police said the bodies were burnt beyond recognition and that the identities had not yet been officially confirmed.
Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke, told journalists at Police Headquarters in Naguru, that investigators are treating the incident as a suspected case of arson.
According to police, accounts gathered from people at the scene and evidence recovered during the initial investigation have raised the possibility that one of the occupants may have deliberately started the fire.
Investigators have also recovered writings from the scene, although police have not revealed their contents as inquiries continue.
Police further said there were allegations that, shortly before the fire broke out, the suspected individual pushed some people out of the house and became violent.
The circumstances have left investigators trying to establish what happened inside the house in the moments leading up to the blaze and what may have triggered the suspected arson.
People familiar with the occupants said Violet Nanyombe was reportedly renting out the property.
Authorities have urged members of the public to seek assistance and report situations that could pose a danger to themselves or others, particularly where an individual appears unable to control their actions.
The bodies have been taken for further examination as police continue gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses.
