KAMPALA, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE)- The Director of Public Prosecutions, Lino Anguzu, has revealed that Rose Tusiime, who has been alleged to be a girlfriend to the late veteran Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu, will not be charged in connection with his murder.
Anguzu said Tusiime will instead be a key prosecution witness against Vincent Arnold Nsamba, the prime suspect in Matovu’s death, who is currently on remand at Luzira Upper Prison.
He said the police and the DPP’s office are still gathering more information about the circumstances surrounding Matovu’s death.
Anguzu made the remarks at the DPP’s head office at the JLOS House in Kampala during a meeting with journalists.
Matovu, 77, died at Kibuli Hospital on September 24, 2026, after sustaining a severe head injury during an alleged early-morning confrontation at Kibuli Market Zone in Makindye Division.
According to the prosecution, Nsamba, 47 years old, allegedly caused Matovu’s death with malice aforethought.
Police investigations indicate that Matovu had gone to visit Tusiime at about 5:30 a.m, after which a physical confrontation allegedly occurred as they were leaving the area.
A boda-boda rider reportedly took the injured Matovu to Kibuli Hospital, where he later died.
Nsamba, who was initially identified as a private security guard, was later arrested in Nansana, Wakiso District.
