Famed local dancehall artist Patrick Mulwana, better known as Alien Skin, was on November 29, 2024 with stringent restrictions on his movements.
He was released alongside his bodyguard, Julius Mugabi, also known as Julio.
Both were released on a cash of sh1millioneach, and shs5million for each of their surities.
The bail was granted by Chief Magistrate Esther Adikin, after it was determined that they had provided substantial sureties, which included an LC1 chairman and Alien Skin’s relatives.
Alien Skin faces a charge of robbery of an iPhone worth shs3million and shs480,000, in September 2024.
The court has prohibited them from leaving the country without prior approval.
The prosecution informed the court about the potential for a settlement through reconciliation, noting that the complainants had submitted further statements.
The Magistrate encouraged the complainants to consult with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) regarding the possibility of withdrawing the case under Section 21 of the Magistrates Act if they wished to do so, because she could not permit reconciliation due to legal constraints and procedural requirements surrounding such matters.
The case was adjourned until January 13, 2025, for further mention.
Following the announcement of his bail, fans filled the streets, chanting his name and enthusiastically blowing vuvuzelas.
Alien Skin and his crew still at large are also facing allegations of assaulting Nsambya Hospital. Reports indicate they violently confronted security personnel and a doctor while insisting on obtaining a medical report for their fallen associate, Joram Tumwesigye.
