MTN Mobile Money (U) Limited (MTN MoMo) has launched Wesotinge Season 2, aiming to further empower Ugandans through accessible, fast, and convenient financial services. Following the success of Season 1, which saw a significant increase in loan uptake, Season 2 focuses on MoMo Advance, an innovative overdraft service designed to address everyday financial challenges with unmatched simplicity.

In 2024, Wesotinge Season 1 achieved a significant growth in loan uptake, introducing millions of Ugandans to the possibilities offered by MTN MoMo Loans and Savings. With over 13.2 million users, MTN MoMo continues to transform mobile money into a comprehensive financial ecosystem tailored to meet the diverse needs of its customers.

Unlike traditional term loans, MoMo Advance is accessible to all MTN MoMo users, providing instant, need-based top-ups that eliminate failed transactions due to insufficient balances. Whether paying bills, sending money, or buying airtime, MoMo Advance ensures you’re never caught short.

“With MoMo Advance, we’ve redefined convenience for our customers,” said Jemima Kariuki, Chief Product Officer of MTN MoMo. “This service is not just a loan; it’s a solution that adapts to your needs in real-time. Whether you’re managing everyday expenses or tackling unexpected situations, MoMo Advance ensures that money is always within your reach.”

MoMo Advance offers a seamless and accessible financial solution for all MoMo users. Once activated, customers can enjoy a streamlined user experience with just one prompt during transactions, avoiding the complexities often associated with traditional loan processes.

Designed to provide exactly what is needed, MoMo Advance eliminates unnecessary debt or wastage. The service is ideal for everyday scenarios such as paying utility bills like Yaka, National Water, Pay TV among others, sending money through P2P transactions, making payments on Momo Pay or buying airtime and bundles,. By simplifying the financial journey, MoMo Advance delivers peace of mind to every user.

While MoMo Advance takes center stage in Wesotinge Season 2, it is part of MTN MoMo’s larger suite of loan and savings products, which include:

• Mokash (in partnership with NCBA)

• MoPESA (in partnership with KCB)

• MoSente (in partnership with Jumo)

• XtraCash (in partnership with Postbank)

Additionally, MTN MoMo savings features enable customers to start saving with as little as UGX 500, earning interest on their balances. These features make it easier to save for school fees, emergencies, or personal goals, offering a simple and rewarding path to financial security.

Through interactive activations and targeted education campaigns, Wesotinge Season 2 aims to equip every MoMo user with the tools to confidently manage their financial journey.

“MTN MoMo is on a mission to make financial security accessible to all Ugandans,” added Kariuki. “Wesotinge Season 2 underscores this commitment by ensuring every customer has the financial tools they need, right at their fingertips.”

Customers can activate MoMo Advance by dialing *165*5# or accessing the “Loans” feature on the MTN MoMo app. For more information, visit MTN MoMo Advance.
