In response to President Yoweri Museveni’s intervention in the ongoing Kiboga land dispute, Ronald Ainebyoona, the primary suspect in the case, has been brought before the Kiboga Chief Magistrate’s Court.
He faces charges including forced entry, malicious damage, and assault causing actual bodily harm.
The alleged incident occurred on March 14, 2025, in Lwakonge village, Kiboga District, where Ainebyoona, along with other individuals who remain at large, forcibly evicted several residents from land located in Block 542, Plot 2.
In addition to the eviction, Ainebyoona is accused of destroying plantations and assaulting some of the occupants.
The land in question has been the subject of a longstanding dispute between two parties.
One side includes a group of departed Asians, who hold a freehold title dating back to 1932, while the other party, Mwanje Badru, holds a mailo title that was granted in 1999.
Ainebyoona asserts that he is acting on behalf of the departed Asians to remove Mwanje and other residents from the land.
This legal action follows a directive from President Museveni to the Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Brigadier General Henry Isoke, to investigate the criminal elements of the case.
The Ministry of Lands, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), and the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) were also tasked with ensuring that the law is properly enforced.
Ainebyoona has been remanded in custody until April 14, 2025, pending further legal proceedings.
