KAMPALA-  The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) wrapped up in a spectacular celebration of African film, television, and digital excellence. The awards night brought together the continent’s finest creative talents and reaffirmed the AMVCAs as a powerful platform for spotlighting authentic African narratives.

Uganda’s film industry stood tall at the ceremony, with the critically acclaimed Sabotage film by Mathew Nabwiso of Nabwiso Films and Humphrey Nabimanya earned a nomination in the Best Indigenous Language (East Africa) category. While the award ultimately went to Makosa Di Yangu, a film directed by Abel Mutua Musyoka, praised for its rich storytelling and cultural resonance.

Sabotage’s nomination alone marked a proud milestone for Ugandan cinema, affirming the country’s rising creative voice and the industry’s growing impact on the continental stage.

Best Sound Design: Suspicion

Best Costume Design: Christmas in Lagos by Ademola Adeyemi

Best Writing (Movie): Freedom Way

Best Writing (TV Series): Untying Kantai by Abel Mutua Musyoka

Best Indigenous Language Film (South Africa): Mwizukanji

Best Indigenous Language Film (East Africa): Makosa Di Tangu

Best Indigenous M-Net Original: Onye Agbata Obim

Best Scripted M-Net Original: My Fairytale Wedding

Best MultiChoice Talent Factory Film: Everything Light Touches

Dr. Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice, stated: “The AMVCAs reflect the ambition of a continent in motion. These stories are no longer emerging; they are defining global conversations. Africa Magic and MultiChoice are proud to be the platform of that power.”
